It may be cold and frosty outside, but winter needn't be the unhealthiest time of the year for you, just remember some simple things you can do:
- Drink plenty of water!
- Eat healthfully. Have at least one hot meal a day. Eatng regularly helps keeps energy levels up during winter.
- Eat more fruit and vegetables. Winter vegetables such as carrots, parsnips and turnips can be roasted, mashed or made into soup for a comforting winter meal for the whole family.Onion and garlic are extremely good for your health too.
- Have regular hot drinks. Warm herbal teas with honey and lemon are also very soothing and a great way to hydrate.
- Rest and sleep enough.
- Wrap up warm but comfortable! Wear shoes with a good grip if you need to go outside on cold days.
- Exercise. Be active! Go walking, sledging, skiing, skating, whatever . Have fun outdoors!
- Be happy. Avoiding stress keeps your immune system strong!
